Postcards from a better day

Postcard view
This view from the terrace at the Member's Room at the Tate Modern has been photographed many, many times, but I always love that view regardless of the weather or the time of year. I took this photograph on the last day of the GET programme after my appointment.

I couldn't resist photographing this view. The light was beautiful and the wind was biting. Another solitary tea drinker followed me out on to the terrace and started taking photographs too. We probably made very similar images of an over-photographed view. But that doesn't matter. It's a memory. I can still feel that wind blowing through the holes in my jumper. I can hear the distant traffic. The boats on the river. The pedestrians below.

The photographs that I took that day are an eclectic mix of visual sketches, ideas that maybe don't quite work but that sometimes hint at new possibilities. So, I'm going to post a series of some of the photographs from that one day, regardless of how good, indifferent or even clichéd they may be.

London looks beautiful there. So long since I've been 'up the smoke': train ride is too much for me.

Thanks, Cusp. I only wish you could have been there to appreciate that view at that moment too. I'm glad that you can enjoy the photo at least. It's as much a reminder to myself to keep hoping that better times are ahead.

Eh how lovely. I have never been up there or (come to think of it) seen other photos of that view.

Looking forward to the others.
