Re-emerging
No, I'm not quite back to my "normal" yet. I missed my first two classes. Made it into the next two. And now it's half term. Already. I have another project to finish by about the first week in July, and as it's almost the first week in June…
My first project has been marked and graded. Three distinctions and one merit. And yes, despite my inner perfectionist, I know that's rather brilliant because, to quote one of my favourite Kinks songs, "I'm not like everybody else".
My next project is based on taking photographs inside other peoples' houses. I guess you could call it 'Kitchen Sink Photography'. Little vignettes and details of ordinary homes. Fortunately, I have a few kind friends who have offered me their homes to photograph.
At this week's class our somewhat reserved and aloof tutor - who is into all the deadpan on-trend contemporary photographers - seemed rather excited about it. But it's no grand plan - it's about what's achievable for me, trying to re-emerge after a debilitating relapse AND keep on schedule with my coursework. With a little help from my friends. (Hey, that's another song!)
I'm starting this second project in a far more precarious position that the first with regard to my health, but I'll place my trust in the Artist's Way idea of turning up at the page and taking care of the quantity, and just see where it takes me.

Huge mazeltovs for this fabulous achievement, Digi. Wonderful.
And bollocks to the relapses - what else can one say? It's the pits when one burns to work and create.
And while I'm here - great post you put up there. Can't stand it when people lay their trips on others.
